Book review : The unbecoming of Mara Dyer

This was an amazing book. Story that twists and draws, reads quickly and leaves the reader wanting more. I’ve had this one on hold at the library for awhile and it finally came available just as the semester started (figures, right?). I started it early one morning that I couldn’t sleep and it immediately drew me in. Mara is a high school student who was in an accident or might have caused it, we’re not sure. She moves to Florida and meets Noah Shaw, who is her perfect match, or is he? There are three books in Maria’s story and three in Noah’s and I can’t wait to read them all.

Welcome week!

Welcome back to class! The first week of the semester is always a bit crazy (both for professors and for students!) Looking forward to making great posts all year long, follow the hash tag #welldressedwednesday for our post of the week! Here’s my favorite outfit this week, all in yellow! Similar dress linked when you click the pic!

Rain jacket from Lululemon, get it here: https://shop.lululemon.com/p/jackets-and-hoodies-jackets/The-Rain-Is-Calling-Jacket-II-MD/_/prod9090541

It’s on sale right now too!

I know this is outside my normal price point, but trust me, it’s worth it! My last rain jacket from them lasted 6 years and they replaced it for free. Amazing stuff.

Everybody Rise

Everybody Rise by Stephanie Clifford is a tragicomedy about girl whose social climbing in New York comes to a bad end. This book reminds me of the Devil Wears Prada, with its vapid descriptions of clothes, social scenes and spoiled heiresses jetting from lake house to cabin, except that the heroine in the Devil Wears Prada had a voice and purpose. You feel for Andrea Sachs, while you don’t for Evelyn Bergan. Evelyn is in effect a puppet acting out the social climbing her mother never got to do and it renders her voice weak. It all wraps up nicely in the end-the heroine is found out, takes control of her life and finances and starts over. Yay. If you are into simple summer reads, this is a good book for you. If you want substance with your style, I’d suggest you look elsewhere.

Opinions are my own and I received no compensation for this review.

A fashion post!

One of the purposes of this blog is talk about fashion, post links, etc. Here’s your first post!

I’m a big fan of Amazon for fashion (mostly because of prime if we’re honest). There are a few people who I follow who post their finds, but what usually works for “everyone” doesn’t always work for me. This romper is one of the exceptions! It’s comfortable, washed well and fits well. I did size up to medium for length. Click the photo for the link!

Pride!

I love pride month. I honestly do. Every year, we walk in the parade, we share the hugs, we let the world know that love is love.

I rocked a new shirt this year from ETSY that sums up how I feel about so much of what’s happening in the world right now: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/678080911/black-lives-matter-science-is-real-love?ref=yr_purchases

Shoes, glorious shoes!

I love shoes. Perhaps it was early exposure to Imelda Marcos, or diving into my mother’s boxes of colored heels in the 80s looking for pairs, but I love shoes. I have far too many and I still struggle with finding the right shoe.

I’ve been rocking these camo slip-ons for a week now and I’m a huge fan. Memory foam makes them comfy and the slip-on style means no laces to fumble over when I’m running to the next meeting.
